SERVICES
This DPW is responsible for the following:
- Street and sidewalks
- Snow removal
- Sanitary sewerage and sewerage systems
- Storm drainage
- Collection and disposal of refuse and recyclables
- Maintenance of public parks
- Maintenance of public buildings and grounds
- Tree maintenance
TRASH & REFUSE
COLLECTION

- Trash/Refuse should be curbside by 7:30 a.m. on your pickup day.
- Yard waste (leaves, grass, small clippings):
- April through November collection
- Pick-up is the day after regular refuse collection
- Yard waste must be in paper bags or barrels --- paper refuse bags may be purchased at DPW recycling center on weekends
- Yard waste may be brought to Walker's compost site at designated times throughout the year
RECYCLING

- Recycling center is located adjacent to DPW on Upland Way, open Mon.-Sat. 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Sun. 8:00 - 12:00
- Curbside recycling collection takes place every other week on regular refuse collection day. Check Town calendar for your collection weeks.
- Recyclable items may be collected curbside or brought to the center:
- Newspaper/corrugated cardboard/magazines/books
- Glass beverage containers Plastic soda/milk containers/drink boxes
- Aluminum cans/tin cans
- Clothes/shoes
- Junk mail
- White goods (metal)
- White goods (stoves, metal, etc.). - call for appointment
- Brush is chipped at curbside in the spring and fall. Call the DPW to schedule an appointment.
- Motor oil and oil filters can be brought to the recycling center no curbside collection
- To dispose of household hazardous waste, call RI Resource Recovery Corporation

SEWER DIVISION
The sewer division provides maintenance and inspection to the Town-wide sanitary sewer system consisting of approximately one hundred miles of sewer lines, six major pump stations, five ejector stations, four grinders and one air release chamber.
TOWN BEACH
Officially opens with lifeguards last Saturday in June. Lifeguards are on duty from 9:00 to 5:00 daily. Beach permits, $15.00 for seasonal use, are available at the beach with vehicle registration.
DPW utilizes a beach sanitizer for cleaning and maintaining.
