Barrington's Neighborhoods
Seven wonderful and diverse neighborhoods to live in.

A seaside community of eight square miles, Barrington offers residence the experience of living in a quaint New England town, and the convenience of close proximity to the cities of Providence , Newport, and Boston.

Incorporated in 1717, Barrington is comprised of roughly seven neighborhoods: Hampden Meadows, Sowams, Rumstick, Nayatt, Alfred Drowne, Primrose Hill, and Bay Spring. These neighborhoods, however, are grouped into larger areas based on local K-3 elementary school proximity. Those areas are known as Sowams, Nayatt and Primrose Hill.
